Job Description: Cisco’s Product Development Services organization which serves the software tooling and information technology needs of Cisco’s worldwide engineering community (spanning all technology groups and business units), is looking for a seasoned battle-tested Solutions Architect to help create the vision, drive strategy and realize the next generation architecture for its Quality Information Systems (including a sophisticated Bug Management system). This system is the system of record for bugs and enhancements across all of Cisco’s product lines. It forms a very integral and critical part of several business processes spanning Release Engineering, Cisco Services (formerly Customer Advocacy), various CDO quality processes etc.

Responsibilities of the solutions architect
 Creating the long-term strategic vision and roadmap for Cisco Engineering’s Quality Information System so as to enable the various future business processes leveraging it.
 Work with solutions architects and development teams in all adjacent domains to provide solutions that are scalable, adaptable and in synchronization with ever changing business needs.
 Evaluating, conduct proof of concepts and recommending new technologies and practices to the development team
 Alignment of Product Development Services Information Technology strategy and planning with the overall Engineering Community's business goals.
 Optimization of information management approaches through an understanding of evolving business needs and technology capabilities.
 Management of the risks associated with information and IT assets through appropriate standards and security policies.
 Direct or indirect involvement in the development of policies, standards and guidelines that direct the selection, development, implementation and use of Information Technology within the enterprise.
 Be directly and indirectly involved with the development teams efforts and help build developer knowledge and skills in specific areas of expertise.
 Align as needed with Cisco-IT on Systems Integration, Best Practices and Operational Excellence.

Skills and knowledge
Very strong hands on and conceptual grasp of Web 2.0, SOA (Web Services), Java, J2EE/JEE, Relational Databases (Oracle) and related technologies
 Comprehensive knowledge of hardware, software, application, and systems engineering
 Systems Thinking - the ability to see how parts interact with the whole (big picture thinking)
 Highly preferable, prior experience building applications, tools and other information systems for Product Development Engineering communities
 Interpersonal and leadership skills – flexible leadership, collaboration, facilitation, and negotiation skills
 Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken
 Ability to explain complex technical issues in a way that non-technical people may understand
 Project and program management planning and organizational skills
 Knowledge of financial modeling as it pertains to IT investment
 Customer service orientation
 Time management and prioritization
